Living in the moment

We are very proud to share a musical production created by our talented participants here at Wellspring. This is the end result of a project that was started in 2015 in collaboration with music therapist Allan Slade of the Victoria Conservatory of Music. All facilitated the songwriting process, encouraging  each and every performer to contribute lyrical, musical, or choreographed elements that were especially meaningful to them.

“Once the song- “Living in the Moment” -was written, we developed the idea of creating a video project to go along with it.”

We reached out to the broader community for help and received the help that we needed to make this project possible. Patrick Smith – co-founder and Artistic Director of the Ptarmigan Society on Pender Island – came aboard early on to provide the overall coordination, planning and guidance that is needed for a production like this.

Patrick connected us with David Malysheff of Gamut productions who handled all of the videography and editing, while the Conservatory provided access to their rehearsal spaces as well as the wonderful Alix Goolden hall for the filming of our performance. Joanne Cuffe of Creative Momentum worked with our participants to help ensure that their inner creativity and ideas shone through just the way they wanted. The instrument and vocal performances were recorded over many sessions, and the team made sure that the production value of the final product reflected the hours and hours of hard work and practice that our performers put in.

Thank you to everyone who came alongside our participants to bring this project to life, and we hope that you enjoy “Living In The Moment”, written and recorded by participants at Wellspring Support.
