Our Stories

“We need to give each other the space to grow, to be ourselves, to exercise our diversity. We need to give each other space so that we may both give and receive such beautiful things as ideas, openness, dignity, joy, healing, and inclusion.”

Max de Pree

From a smile, to a fun day, learning a new skill, or finding greater independence – the personal plans of our participants are unique and completely their choice. We are here to support, and if we can help fan those tiny, inner sparks of possibility into flames of achievement, we celebrate each and every milestone, and each and every story. Here are a few we’d like to share.

Ciara’s Story

I get help to build my self confidence

My name is Ciara, and I am a participant at Wellspring Westshore. I am happy at my program because the staff are helpful, and nice, and they make me feel included. We laugh a lot and we all have a great sense of humour. The staff help me expand my ideas; help me work on projects, and continue to help build my self confidence. We do lots of fun outings in the community, and I enjoy the variety of activities. I feel safe at Wellspring, and I like being part of this team.

Diane’s Story

I get help to enjoy my life

I enjoy the program very much. I want to go every day, and look forward to activities, and being with staff and other participants.

I get help to enjoy my life at Wellspring.

Winnie’s Story

I get help to be independent

Wellspring has really helped me be independent, and be on my own.

Lisa’s Story

I get help with day-to-day tasks

Hi, my name is Lisa and I am an SIL participant. I moved to Victoria when I was 5 years old and I love living here. My favorite thing to do with Wellspring is going out for lunch and coffee. My favorite coffee shop being Cats Coffee! I also really enjoy going swimming as well. Wellspring staff also help me with sorting out appointments and other day-to-day tasks. This has helped with my independence. All in all, I really like being a part of Wellspring!

Karen’s Story

All my friends are here!

Hi! I am Karen, better known as “The Deags!” Why I love coming to Wellspring? Because all my friends are here! I get to shred the paper and my friends and I get to do arts and crafts. We go outside and hit “the goose” listening to music. There is nothing I don’t like except when I have to miss a day. I like that there’s something fun for all my friends to do.
